This Is How Quickly Airborne Particles Travel
In this demonstration, Gary shows how quickly airborne particles can travel by releasing a fire extinguisher and watching the plume get carried nearly three-quarters of a mile in about 30 seconds. The visible cloud lingers in the air for minutes, making a powerful point: if something as simple as extinguisher dust can spread this far, this fast, then disturbed plutonium-contaminated soil from Rocky Flats would travel just as easily. It’s a clear visual reminder of how wide and fast contamination can move once it’s airborne and why protecting our neighborhoods from soil disturbance is critical.
